Department of Applied Sciences is an essential department of an Institute, imparting quality education in the area of Applied Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Environmental science for the future technocrats. It is essentially the foundation stone for various engineering courses offered at FGIET. Applied science is a bridge that connects pure, basic science like physics or chemistry with engineering practices. The curriculum of the department is centered around most basic objects and forces, with emphasis on practical applications along with an ability to express oneself in formal manner.
The department of Applied Sciences aims to provide a strong foundation in the fundamental sciences to build or design products for societal need. Students of engineering at FGIET are inculcated with a strong sense of appreciation for tools of analysis as well as the knowledge of the principles on which modern engineering is based. The department strives to develop scientific temper, the spirit of enquiry and encourages the students to apply the physical laws in their respective fields of studies. The department strives to make the budding technocrats well-equipped and well-versed in their prospective professional careers. The Department has well equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Numerical analysis. The department explores the interdisciplinary strengths in the fundamental Sciences, create a “critical mass” in new and emerging areas, and enhance application based research. The department is well equipped with all modern teaching aids and encourages use of latest technologies to attract the students’ imagination and thinking outside the box.
Department of Mathematics
The distinguished faculty, with National and International research publications motivates students for exploring the formal methods for proving the concepts. A student gets a strong background in mathematics to develop an analytical aptitude for budding engineers. Engineering students while studying with department cover various arenas of mathematics including calculus, optimization techniques, quantitative techniques etc. in their eight semester course.
Department of Physics
The Department of Physics imparts quality foundation education for undergraduate engineering students in the field of physics. The department is actively involved in teaching and research in the field of Applied Physics and Materials Science. Primary objective of the department is to motivate and inspire the students to have a strong background in basic science for the engineering curriculum and feed the budding engineer with fine aspects of science, which make them to understand, exploit and innovate and contribute to the technological advancement of tomorrow. The Department has well equipped laboratories and other infrastructural facilities
Department of Chemistry
The department has faculties with rich teaching experience and doctoral degree from renowned university. The Department besides providing students with the basic fundamentals also nurtures the spirit of scientific inquiry for chemistry used in the industries and research organizations. The Department has well equipped laboratories and other infrastructural facilities.
Department of Environmental sciences
The Environmental Science department conceived with the specific objective of creating an awareness and sensitivity for environment and technological implication towards the environment
