About Us

Department of Computer Applications is only Post Graduate course of FGIET. Department adds a vertical dimension to the academics at FGIET by including research and development as integral part of the regular curriculum. Department was incepted on 2008 as part of vision expand the college to post graduate studies. Master’s in Computer Application (MCA) is the course offered by the department, affiliated from Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (erstwhile U P Technical University). The prime objective of the curriculum of MCA is to generate skilled work force for IT and ITES sector. The curriculum of MCA is balanced blend of Management, conventional and core computer science subjects, strong enough to transform an amateur to professionals.

Digital India an initiative by the government of India to connect all the functionaries of the country through Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure thus opened up avenues in public sector also. Digital India has major thrust for both implementing and developing infrastructure ICT. Curriculum of MCA focuses more towards designing and developing the software system. In the same perspective the programming languages like ‘C’, “JAVA”, “C#” are included as core subjects. Besides, the provision of “Mini-Project” allows a student to enhance their skills in already learned languages or enhance their skill set by developing demonstrable product prototype in a language outside the purview of syllabus. Other subjects like “Accounting and Financial Management” familiarize a student to working principles, guiding policies and the record keeping practices in a business organization. These subjects also help to understand the functionality of the commercial products available and used by the Industry in present time.

There is immense shortage of IT professionals in both backend and software development. These companies expects their future employees must be well conversed with communication skills along with core competencies. Students of MCA are expected to understand the requirements in native language and transform them into set of guidelines that can be easily followed by any software professional to develop a working solution. A student is expected to understand and appreciated the methods of formal proving for the system under design. As computer application is a application oriented branch hence student is supposed to be ready for lifelong learning process. Student expected to be ready for adaptation to any kind of changes in solution design platforms as well as new languages developed for the specific need of the Industry.

We at FGIET have planned to introduce certain new cutting edge technologies as the part of curriculum which will not only enrich the profile of a student but also develop acumen for learning. In this pursuit department has introduced the course on Python, Hadoob, Linux and Open Office. We look forward to our aspirants to become professional in their approach ahile pursuing MCA from FGIET.
