Aeronautical Engineering Department

About Us

Aeronautical engineering is the most innovative, interesting and upcoming branch among all the branches of engineering. In this branch new technologies are developed to use in civil aviation and defense. The Aeronautical engineering department has well experienced and qualified faculties, who have specialization in Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Aircraft Structure, Flight Mechanics, Rocket & missiles Communication, Navigation and Instrumentation fields.

Department of Aeronautical Engineering was established in 2008 with intake of 30 students also have provision of 20% lateral entry in second year for B. Tech. course. Activities in the department are supported with eminent personalities from reputed institutions, industries, government organization and R&D sectors for student to guide them for successful carrier.

The department has amiable and congenial environment for the students to develop new ideas and their implementation under expert guidance. To enhance theoretical and practical knowledge of the students the institute has signed MOU with Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and to give Industrial exposure to the students, visits are arranged to Indira Gandhi Rastriya Udan Academy Fursatganj Raebareli (U.P.). for practical training of the students. Aeronautical department have well equipped labs and well qualified Instructors.

Academic Curriculum of Aeronautical Engineering– Brief Outlook

The Approach towards designing curriculum for Aeronautical Engineering was to match the standard curriculum of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) with emerging trends in the industry. The main focus of the curriculum is to produce students who are well prepared for Indian Industries with necessary core competency to succeed long-term in engineering jobs, entrepreneurship careers, and who are well prepared to undertake and higher studies in IITs and IIM and career in research and development.

Typical Curriculum Structure includes theory and practical courses in

  • Humanities and Social Sciences (HS) such as Professional communication and environmental science.
  • Basic Sciences (BS) including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry.
  • Engineering Sciences (ES) including Engineering Workshop and Graphics, Basics of Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical/Computer Engineering.
  • Professional Subjects-Core (PC) and Electives (PE) such As Thermodynamics, Applied Thermodynamics, Engineering Mechanics, Manufacturing process, Measurement and metrology, Heat and mass transfer, Dynamics of machine, Kinematic of machine, Aircraft Instruments and Avionics, Propulsion-I, Mechanics of solids, Fluid machines, Propulsion-II, Aircraft Engine maintenance, Aerodynamics-I, Aerodynamics-II, Flight Mechanics, Rocket & Missiles and Aircraft Structure
  • Open Subjects- Electives (OE), from other technical and/or emerging subject areas such as Non-Conventional Energy Resources, Quality management, Product development, Automation and Robotics.
  • Mini and Major Project, Work Shops, Seminar and Internship in Industry.

The components HS,BS,ES,PC and PE specially emphasis on educating and preparing the students to develop a solid foundation in mathematical, scientific and electronics and communication fundamentals required to comprehend, analyze, design & create novel products and to provide solutions for engineering and technology related real life problems using techniques, tools and simulation.

The other curriculum components such as OE, Project Work, Seminar and Internship in Industrial and IIT visits for targets qualities such as professional/ethical attitude, effective communication skills and leadership/participation in team work skills and multidisciplinary approach. Students will also develop abilities for planning, development and implementation of strategies for life-long learning.

B.Tech. in Aeronautical engineering is of 4 academic years (=8 Semesters), with the year being divided into two Semesters of ~ 20 weeks (>=90 working days) each for course work, followed by Internal sessional assessment during semester & External end semester examination to record the performance of students. The internal sessional assessment combines contribution of students in various types of assignments and sessional exams.
